Get an inside look into the many recycling programs BZWI offers to the community, including conventionally not-recyclable items like toothbrushes and bread tags. Learn why special recycling programs are not the answer to our waste crisis and how BZWI plans to move beyond recycling as a solution by assisting individuals like you. Come away from this talk with some simple swaps for items in your daily life that you can replace for less wasteful substitutes, as well as some guiding principles that will help you identify even more impactful to take action.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Andrew Ferrara is the program manager of the Berkshire Zero Waste Initiative, a project of BEAT. He is a graduate of the Environmental Studies program at MCLA and a lifelong Berkshire County resident. When not thinking, talking, and breathing trash, he can be found gardening or hiking with friends, likely picking up litter along the way.
Berkshire Green Drinks is an informal gathering on the second Wednesday* of the month. A guest speaker talks for about 30 minutes beginning at 6 PM, and the presentation is followed by a discussion and Q&A. These nights are free and open to everyone with any environmental interest. The drinks aren’t green but the conversations are. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join and bring along questions!
*Berkshire Green Drinks will not take place on Wednesdays during September, October, and November 2023.
