Battery Recycling
Did You Know? Typical household batteries can be thrown in your normal trash can, but that doesn’t make it environmentally responsible.
Batteries that are thrown away instead of being recycled end up either in a landfill or burned in an incinerator. Landfilled batteries will eventually leach their chemicals into the surrounding groundwater, and burned batteries release their chemicals into the air. Why not send them to a facility that will properly handle and recycle their component materials? We at BZWI accept many different types of batteries for our Big Green Box collection — free to you! This program does cost our organization money, however, so a small donation with your battery drop-off is much appreciated.
Big Green Box also accepts small electronic devices and accessories for recycling. View the links below to learn which batteries and other materials are accepted in this program. When you are ready to drop your items off, send us a quick email or call our office to make sure we will be open!
